I was going to (and tried to) write a long detailed story of the Astro Cowboy record release. Instead I’m going to keep it short and to the point.
Johnny Gray opened the night with some short comedy (including a dope silly dance competition.) Free Clinic performed their hazy brand of beachy pop rock first. The tight set included mostly new material from their own upcoming album.
The main event Astro Cowboy came on with a bang playing the incredibly anthemic catchy scream along Rick Nandise which made my night from the start. Afterwards they played material from the (already forming?) upcoming album before going into Hedonism Colosseum. As always their set was incredibly interactive with an almost non exsistent fourth wall. When all was said and done and nearly everyone was moshed out free CD copies of the album were thrown out into the crowd.
Wrapping up the night was Heyrocco from South Carolina . Their sound lay somewhere between 90’s Grunge and early 2000’s pop punk. A standout from their set (Next to the cover of “There She Goes”) was a song called Virgin. All in all it was an excellent night and all three band performed great sets.
